Job Description
The GMA Communications and Marketing Intern will experience the inner workings of a fast-paced Washington, DC communications shop. This position is an excellent opportunity for a communications major to be an active partner in a team of communication professionals and to understand the critical role of trade associations in government and politics.

The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, outgoing, eager to learn, and possess strong written and verbal communication skills. Day-to-day responsibilities may include:

• Support and optimize GMA’s recently launched robust social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, blog) with monitoring and content • Support monitoring and maintenance of GMA web site, making updates and developing content • Create and send HTML email blasts using broadcast email software • Assist with marketing of GMA events and conferences, including but not limited to: maintaining event web sites, writing/editing promotional copy, and developing targeted marketing lists • Draft various PR and marketing materials (press releases, Powerpoints, memos, etc.) • Assist with press conferences and other special events • Support media outreach efforts • Conduct Internet research on various issues • Database and list management


Requirements
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Powerpoint) • Comfortable with social media and web technologies (Facebook, Twitter, blogging software, email software) • Attention to detail • Strong written and verbal communication skills • Internet research
