Job Description
A large multi-state, multi-site leading Hispanic food processing and distribution company located in the eastern portion of Los Angeles county has an immediate need for a bilingual English/Spanish, results-driven Human Resources Director with expertise in providing strategic direction and execution of all HR policies, practices and programs. Must have manufacturing experience (food processing/distribution).

Position Summary:

The HR Director will be responsible for developing and implementing goals and strategies that serve, attract, develop and retain employees in order to meet the company’s business strategy. The successful candidate will oversee all aspects of the human resources department including compliance with Federal and State laws, the Union, benefits, workers compensation, wage and salary administration, and recruiting. This individual will be responsible for maintaining excellent employee relations, best practices, training and development, policy and procedure leadership as well as transitioning the human resources department into a strategic business partner. The successful candidate will work to continually improve communications across the company and must be able to relate well with employees of all levels both written and verbally.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Provide advice and counsel in difficult and sensitive employee relations issues to ensure compliance with current legislation and fair and equitable treatment practices. • Expertise in delivering HR services including recruiting, compensation and benefits, as well as organizational development and facilities administration. • Utilize independent judgment to assess, innovate, improve and develop human resource programs, policies and procedures to aid in the administration of a workforce covering several geographic areas. • Build trust and confidence with senior team members of the company and serve as a confidant and sounding board when needed. • Conduct data analysis and interpretation of trends to support Human Resources management planning and company growth. • Develop metrics to evaluate benefit performance and provide feedback to the Executive Team on benefit design strategies to ensure there is agreement on the direction of benefits programs throughout the organization. • Assist in communication programs in support of open enrollment and general employee education to increase plan participation and satisfaction. • Experience with Workers Compensation administration. • Manage a staff of three to four direct reports • Manage activities designed to promote a culture of mutual respect with a high level of employee morale and productivity.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field. • SPHR or PHR certification. • Minimum 5 years supervisory or managerial experience in Human Resources. • Union experience. • Extremely strong interpersonal and counseling skills with knowledge of basic behavioral science concepts. • Strong verbal and writing skills and proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel and HRIS. Power point knowledge desirable. • Bilingual English/Spanish a must.
